In Pain? 3 Signs That Is It Time To Book A Session With a Physio

“Is this pain I’m feeling normal should I stretch at home or is it time for me to get treatment?”

– I could not even begin to count how many times I’ve been asked by my clients, friends and family who have experienced injuries from working out (or sleeping wrong). This is a commonly asked questions by athletes. When is the proper time to go consult a medical professional, specifically a physiotherapist.

Well, here’s your guide.

3 Signs you Need to See a Physiotherapist

#1 When you can’t move as easily as you used to

Every single one of us will lose a degree of flexibility at one point in time. However, when losing your flexibility already holds you back from things you so normally & easily do before, that’s definitely okay & you should definitely go see a physiotherapist. This could be someone who easily can put their arms above their head but all of the sudden feel much tightness, or someone who no longer can reach their toes.

Physiotherapists can help identify the problem, mobilize & strengthen any affected area in your body.

#2 When your sleep is often interrupted

Did you know that sleep is one of the best, easy to read indicators of your state & wellbeing? So, if you’re already having troubles getting enough sleep or not feeling rested enough when you wake, one of the possible causes apart from stress is pain & problems with your mobility. Lack of sleep can also further slow down your healing progress so it would be a good time to get it checked out.

#3 When you are in CONSTANT pain

While I do hope you do not get to this point, as it no fun for anyone. It’s normal to feel pain after working out at times because there’s tension in the body. BUT, when it’s always & constant, that is no longer normal. Every pain gradually subsides. So, if you got injured & the pain hasn’t healed for a while, it may be the perfect time to consult a physiotherapist.

So, these are just few of the signs you can check to see if you need to consult a physiotherapist. But, hey, allow me to say. It’s always the right time to consult one! You know what they say, prevention is better than cure. Wouldn’t hurt to get checked, wouldn’t it?
