#62 Your Path to Unstoppable Motivation - Harnessing the Power of Fitness Events



Hey there, fitness enthusiasts! Today, we're diving into the world of fitness events and how signing up for one can be the game-changer you've been searching for in your fitness journey. In this episode we cover how to pick one that will feel motivating for you and help you LEVEL up your fitness journey.

Maybe you have heard the saying,

Goals with out dates are just dreams.

 



Set the date, make it a goal:


I am such a firm believer in using fitness events as a powerful training tools. And it is irrispenctful if you choose to sign up for a run, a team competition, a CrossFit Throwdown, or anything along those lines. If used right and with a good mindset it can be the motivation you are missing.

If you have never tried it, let me tell you what happens, when you sign up to a fitness event you get this unique blend of challenge and excitement. Now your goals go beyond just being a dream; they become a goal with a date and source of relentless motivation to not only do the hard thing, but also to take your rest, nutrition and recovery more seriously.


Create Your Accountability Systems:

As soon as you commit to an event and tell other people about it you are setting yourself up for success. You're not just setting a personal goal; you're making a public declaration of intent. If you in addition to signing up and setting the date on your calendar start to share your goal with your friends the effect is even bigger. The accountability that comes with this commitment is extremely powerful, and can become a powerful driving force in your training. Not only to yourself but also for your training buddies and potential team mates that you let in on your journey.


Setting yourself up for success

Its important to choose an event that simultaneously scares and excites you but is still within our reach. Slightly challenging but with the right training is realistic and doable. Doing that you will forced to rise up to the challenge and start showing up more like the person who is capable of such things. And this is how we grow.

You are setting yourself up for success where your only option is to step out of your comfort zone and this is going to help propelling you to train harder, refine your skills, take your rest seriously and collaborate with teammates if it's a team event. The journey towards the event becomes a reward in itself, filled with personal growth and triumphs.

Reflecting on my journey, all the competition I signed up for were a whirlwind of nerves and excitement. And the best once were the once that hit that balance of fear and excitement. When I got that balance right, the preparation was life changing. It wasn't just about the event day it self; it was more about the transformative journey leading up to it. In some of them it was the camaraderie with my teammates, others the solo grind before the set date but in all of them the dedication to refining my skills made the entire process incredibly rewarding.


Your Challenge Awaits

  1. I would like to challenge you to take a moment to explore competitions happening in the next 3-12 months. Check out a variety of events, read up on them, what they include and how they run. Methodically seek out an event that sets your heart racing with a mix of fear and excitement. It could be a local run, a CrossFit competition, or any event aligning with your fitness goals. Then write out 5-10 events that excite you, ranking from EASY totally doable with my current skills to HARD not ready for this one yet and list them up.

  2. Second part of this challenge is that I want to encourage you to at least think seriously about signing up for that event and embark on this transformative journey. Hang this list on your fridge or bathroom mirror, and think about what kind of person do you need to become to achive this? Is this something you would like to do?
